Meet our Counselors:

Rya Carpenter, MS PPS

Balanced College Planning is owned and operated by Rya Carpenter. She holds a Masters Degree in Counseling and Guidance, in addition to a Counseling Credential from the State of California, which has allowed her to serve as a school based counselor for the past 20+ years.

Rya has the unique experience of working with students both in the public and private school setting, giving her a broad perspective of student experiences and what colleges are looking for in an applicant. Her talent is adjusting to the needs of the student in front of her; creating college plans that are personalized and targeted for success. She is known for her responsiveness, creative problem-solving and high level of competency in the field of college counseling.

Rya is a member of the National Association of College Admission Counselors (NACAC), and the Higher Education Consultants Association (HECA). She travels to colleges throughout the country and regularly connects with college admission representatives.

 

M. Jean Anderson, M.Ed
Jean has her Masters in Counseling, working as an educator for almost 40 years, and a school counselor for over 30 years. Jean too has experience working with students in both the public and private school setting. She is known for meticulous attention to detail, tapping into resources for student success and knowledge of college admission criteria. Additionally, Jean has served as a College Instructor with courses such as:
  • College Survival & Success 
  • Human Growth & Development
  • Psychology 

 

Danielle Lageman, MS PPS

Danielle has been working as a school counselor for over 25 years. She is passionate about post secondary education and career development; guiding students throughout the process with a personal touch. She stays up to date on college information by consistently touring universities and colleges, attending professional conferences and workshops. Danielle is a member of the American School Counselor Association and National School Counselor Association.
